At a time when the world is calling for a complete phase-out of coal power by 2030 to combat the climate crisis, there is a new coal power plant🏭 in Samcheok, Gangwon Province?

The Samcheok Blue Power coal plant will emit a huge amount of greenhouse gases, 570 tons of fine dust per year, and accelerate the erosion of Mangbang Beach.

Samcheok citizens also opposed the construction, and a petition with 50,000 signatures was sent to the National Assembly.

Beyond Coal, an investment in the coal industry that accelerates the climate crisis and carries high financial risks, is launching a financial campaign to demand an end to the construction and investment of the Samcheok Blue Power coal plant.

The interest of citizens is the biggest force to stop the construction.
